The Beauty of Youth Football
As we approach the fall, youth football programs have been preparing for the upcoming season. The stage is set for the games that will be played and all the hard work is being put in day by day. As I stand and watch my son practice I am overwhelmed by the preparation that goes into teaching these young players the fundamentals they will need to be competitive in their league. My son plays for the Whitepoint Wolverines youth football club and he is just turning 5 years old this September and the progress he has made from his first practices to the most recent one is amazing. The coaches who volunteer their time to help train the kids take pride in what they are teaching and their knowledge of the game shows up through their players at every practice. It's beautiful thing to watch the kids learn to do things as a team and the smiles on their faces after all the hard work after every practice shows that they are not only learning their sport but they are developing a love for the game and just enjoying themselves like kids should. Football is too often seen as just a violent sport, it takes discipline and hard work just as any other sport but more than any other sport it takes team work to a different level. 11 players on each side of the ball have to work as a unit to put their team in position to win a football game, more than any other sport those units need to work together to make a play. Youth coaches deserve all the credit in the world for not only shaping the kids into good players but for teaching them the importance of teamwork and taking pride in what you do. So as my son continues to prepare to play his first football game and his coaches continue to do the excellent job they have been doing in getting him ready I would just like to sum up Youth Football in one word....... Beautiful
